JAKARTA - Grab officially announced the five startups selected in the Grab Ventures Velocity (GVV) Batch 8, a program focused on startup developers in the fields of climate technology, renewable energy, and the circular economy.

The five startups that made it through the rigorous curation process are CASION (electric vehicle infrastructure), Jejakin (carbon management platform), Liberty Society (upcycling waste into souvenir products and empowering women's campaigns), Rekosistem (circular-based domestic waste management service and Extended Producer Responsibility/EPR technology), and Sirsak (packaging waste management company).

Carrying the theme "Driving a Sustainable Future: Helping MSMEs to Adopt Greener Operations", this program is strengthened through collaboration with Superbank, Emtek, Singtel and KakaoBank, as well as Genesis Alternative Venture, the first venture lending company in Southeast Asia based in Singapore.

Through this program, Grab Indonesia's Director of Digital & Sustainability, Rivana Mezaya, believes that Indonesia has great potential to produce technological innovations that have a direct impact on society and the economy.

"We believe that the Indonesian natural ecosystem actually has the potential to continue technological innovations that can have an impact on society," said Director, Digital & Sustainability Grab Indonesia, Rivana Mezaya on Tuesday, January 13 in Jakarta.

He added that through integration with the Grab ecosystem, startups can test their business models and technology solutions directly.

"We want startups to be able to test various business development theses with the Grab ecosystem, so that the solutions they build are really relevant and ready to be used on a larger scale," he continued.

Over the next six months, the five finalists will participate in an intensive program that includes in-depth mentorship with industry practitioners, integration into Grab's digital ecosystem, implementation of pilot projects, and pitching opportunities to potential investors and strategic partners.

In addition to business assistance, the finalists also participated in a series of activities such as keynote, panel discussion with the founders of national technology startups, alumni sharing sessions, focus group discussions, and networking with investors and industry players.
