JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital (Komdigi), Nezar Patria, said that the Indonesian people welcomed the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology with great enthusiasm.

In fact, this enthusiasm places Indonesia as one of the countries with a fairly high level of acceptance of AI technology according to Komdigi data. This is seen from the massive use of AI in various sectors, including social media.

"The readiness of the Indonesian people (in adopting AI) is actually quite enthusiastic," said Nezar when met at the AI Talent Day and Graduation 2025 event on Wednesday, December 17. "In general, social media users have interacted with AI technology in the form of generative AI."

Seeing this trend, Nezar also revealed the government's target in adopting AI. Komdigi does not want to make Indonesian people users or markets of foreign-made AI products, but also wants to be a key player in the sector.

Komdigi is currently intensifying an education program for digital talent called AI Talent Factory to equip young people with technical skills. Hopefully, Indonesia can produce more technology developers in the future.

"We don't just want to be a market, we want to be a player. We don't just want to be a user, but we want to be a deployer and developer at the same time," said Nezar.

The younger generation is also expected to be able to create innovations that are relevant to domestic needs. In addition, these developed talents are expected to be able to design AI models that are not only technically sophisticated, but also contain the values of the country.

"Our goal is to create an AI software model that is created by the Indonesian people that reflects the values of our society," explained Nezar.
