JAKARTA - PT XLSMART Telecom Sejahtera Tbk (XLSMART) has completed comprehensive preparations on the integrated network after the merger, to face the potential surge in traffic during the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) 2026 holiday period.

XLSMART itself predicts that there will be a significant increase in traffic during the Christmas and New Year 2026 holiday period of around 20% -30% compared to the average in normal conditions or ordinary days.

"Seeing the enthusiasm and the great interest of the Indonesian people to celebrate Christmas and New Year, we ensure that the XLSMART network is fully ready," said XLSMART Director & Chief Technology Officer Shurish Subbramaniam in an official statement quoted Tuesday, December 16.

For network preparation, XLSMART focuses on areas that are the center of community movement where traffic spikes are expected to be concentrated on the homecoming route in Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi.

On land and sea transportation routes, XLSMART has improved the quality of the network covering 138 main Nataru travel routes, including 71 toll roads, 49 main roads, 16 train lines, and 2 ferry ports.

Thus, capacity increases and network optimization are carried out in at least 515 areas, which include 212 tourist destinations, 102 public spaces, 105 toll gates and rest areas, and 96 public transportation locations.

In total, along the more than 13,000 km of the main travel routes that are predicted to be traveled by the public during the Nataru holiday are ensured to be within the coverage of the XLSMART network.

In addition, XLSMART has also prepared a network engineering plan, including deploying around 101 units of Mobile BTS (MBTS) which are placed along the toll road, New Year's crowd centers, tourist attractions, and other public spaces.

"A total of 101 MBTS units have been deployed in crowded areas, tourist attractions, public spaces and along the toll road. This is to ensure that service quality is maintained at points with sudden traffic spikes during the holiday period," added Shurish.

The placement of the 101 MBTS includes 6 units in North Sumatra, 18 units in South Sumatra, 14 units in Jabodetabek and Sukabumi.

Meanwhile, in West Java there are 16 units, Central Java and Yogyakarta 12 units, East Java 23 units, Bali and Nusa Tenggara 5 units, and Kalimantan and Sulawesi 7 units.
