JAKARTA - Justin Bieber apparently has the same complaints as many other iPhone users. In the uploads on X and Instagram on Friday, December 5, the Canadian singer expressed his frustration with the iPhone's dictation button feature, which he said was very annoying and often stuck accidentally.

This button is a text-to-sound feature that often appears in the same area as the messaging function, so it is easy to stress when typing.

Bieber wrote that he often accidentally touched the dictation button after sending a message, which then caused his music to stop because the phone rang to start a dictating mode.

If I hit this division button after joint a text and it rests and stops my music one more time,

I'm worried to find everyone at apple and put them in a rear naked choke hold

Even if I turn off training I somehow hit the voice note thing

He added that even though the feature was turned off, he still often hit the voicemail button which is located close to each other. In his complaint, he includes a screenshot of iMessage's display showing the button. Bieber emphasized that the send button should not have multiple functions at once at the same location.

Bieber's upload quickly received thousands of positive responses from social media users who felt the same way. Even Ian Silber, Head of Product Design at OpenAI, also responded. Silber jokingly wrote that Bieber was officially invited to attend weekly design criticism sessions at his company.

Bieber's complaint comes as Apple is going through a tough week due to a number of important figures' departures within the company. On Monday, Apple announced that John Giannandrea, Senior Vice President for machine learning and artificial intelligence strategies, will step down from office and will only serve as an advisor until retirement in 2026.

Then on Wednesday, December 3, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that Alan Dye will lead Meta's new creative studio at Reality Labs. Dye, who served as Vice President of Human Interface Design at Apple, has been working for the company for nearly two decades.

It didn't stop there, on Thursday Apple also announced that Lisa Jackson, Vice President for the environment, policies and social initiatives, would retire in late January. Kate Adams, Apple's top legal adviser since 2017, will also be stepping down next year.

As one of the tech giants known for years as the most consistent innovator, Apple is considered slow to adapt to fierce competitions in the artificial intelligence market now dominated by OpenAI, Meta, and Google.

In October, OpenAI unveiled its own version of the app store, a move that is considered challenging the dominance of Apple and Google. In the same month, Apple's former CEO, John Sculley, stated that OpenAI was Apple's first real competitive for Apple in recent decades.

Five months earlier, OpenAI announced cooperation with Jony Ive, Apple's former Chief Design Officer, who for three decades led iPhone designs and various other iconic products before leaving in 2019.

OpenAI had collaborated with design firm Ive, LoveFrom, before finally acquiring Ive's AI hardware startup, IO, in May 2025. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and CEO are rumored to be developing a new device that has the potential to be a competitor to the iPhone, although the format and details are still strictly kept secret.
