JAKARTA ByteDance, a Chinese technology company, announced the launch of voice control tools based on Artificial Intelligence (AI). This tool is said to be debuting on ZTE Corp's smartphone.

The AI assistant is supported by the big language model (LLM) Doubao owned by ByteDance. This advanced model allows users to activate various tasks with only their voices, such as searching for content or booking tickets.

With this launch, ByteDance will compete with similar AI features that have been introduced by other Chinese smartphone manufacturers. Its main competitors in the market include Huawei and Xiaomi.

The AI ByteDance voice device will be first embedded on ZTE phones, namely Nubia M153. Currently, the phone is still a prototype. This phone is already available for limited number of pre-orders.

Good news about the integration of AI-based voice control tools in Nubia M153 and the presence of the cellphone which is getting closer has a positive impact on the company's shares. ZTE shares are known to have jumped 10 percent on December 1, hitting the highest level since October 29.

In a statement, ByteDance confirmed that it has no plans to develop its own smartphone. Their focus remains on developing AI technology and strategic partnerships.

ByteDance also confirmed that they are in talks with a number of other smartphone manufacturers. The company hopes to launch its AI voice assistant on more phones.
