JAKARTA Sora, a video generate platform from OpenAI, is following in the footsteps of Google's Nano Banana Pro in changing its policies. The application for making AI videos now limits free user access.
Launching from The Verge, this restriction was made due to very high demand. Bill Peebles, a Sora leader at OpenAI, stated that free users can now only make six AI videos per day.
"Our GPU is declining. We want as many people as possible to be able to access Sora (so establish this limit)." said Peebles on X on Friday, November 28, 2025.
Peebles did not explain whether this step was temporary or permanent. Even though it is limited, users can still make additional videos as needed, but they need to buy additional quotas.

The restriction policy began for the first time by Nano Banana Pro. The service from Google now limits free user access to two images per day, down from a three-image limit per day.
Unlike Peebles, Google says that this limit can change periodically and possibly without any future notification. In addition, Google also limits free user access to Gemini 3 Pro.
These restrictions show pressure on expensive computing infrastructures, such as GPUs, needed to run advanced generative AI models. It should be noted that restrictions for paid subscribers such as ChatGPT Plus and Pro have not changed.
