JAKARTA Blue Origin, which has just successfully run its second New Glenn rocket flight, revealed its latest rocket design. This rocket will be a New Glenn with a size that is claimed to be 'big super'.

Called the New Glenn 9x4, the rocket surpassed the altitude of the Satur V. Blue Origin rocket saying that the rocket will have a much larger thrust and will use nine rocket engines at the thrust stage as well as four engines at the top.

This number is an upgrade from the regular New Glenn version that uses seven and two machines at each stage. This additional firing power allows New Glenn to carry payloads, "more than 70 metric tons into low-Earth orbit."

This payload capacity puts the New Glenn 9x4 slightly below SpaceX's current Starship capacity. This larger version is equipped with a much larger fairing to accommodate massive payloads.

By presenting the latest design of New Glenn 9x4, Blue Origin wants to take advantage of this rocket for, 'giant constellations, lunar and space exploration'. This rocket is also expected to be used for national security needs.

Blue Origin seems to want to compete with SpaceX, Elon Musk's company, for a NASA mission to the moon. This is clearly required in an illustration released by Blue Origin for New Glenn 9x4 on Thursday, November 20.

The illustration shows a superheavy rocket with a lunar background. However, this major change is referred to as an increase in reducing the waiting time between launches.

Although Blue Origin has yet to set a next launch date for New Glenn, this launch appears to be planned in early 2026. Blue Origin CEO Dave Limp also hinted at a possible launch of the Blue Moon Mark 1 lunar lander vehicle in the near future.
