Imbas Kasus SMAN 72, Menkomdigi Tegaskan Pentingnya Penundatan Akses Medsos Anak

Responding to the explosion incident by students of SMAN 72 Jakarta, Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid emphasized the importance of the presence of regulations to protect children from exposure to negative content in the digital space.

Previously, the Chairman of the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) Margaret Aliyatul Maimunah, highlighted the alleged influence of social media content on the alleged perpetrator of the explosion at SMAN 72, Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta.

"I'm not a child expert, but we certainly have to look at all dimensions, including in the digital realm. That's why PP TUNAS was born, because we are well aware that the exposure factor to social media, including games with communication features or social media, can also have an impact on children," said Meutya at the 2025 Komdigi Journalism Award event on Wednesday, November 19.

He considered that limiting children's age in accessing social media was very important to be implemented in Indonesia, demanding that children's addiction to gadgets and social media be quite high.

"This is not easy. First, we are also quite affected by a fairly high addiction. Second, we of course also have to deal with big platforms that really need to change the ways they behave when accessing children's share in Indonesia," continued Meutya.

Meutya hopes that digital platform providers in Indonesia can make adjustments to Government Regulation (PP) Number 17 of 2025 concerning Governance for the Implementation of Electronic Systems in Child Protection (PP TUNAS).

"Hopefully next year this rule can be applied 100%. So if now the rules have been issued, we are waiting for the platforms to prepare the technology. Hopefully next year it can really be implemented," he said.
