PB ESI Opens Voice About PUBG Restrictions, Says Indonesia Still Needs Young Talents Esports

JAKARTA - The Executive Board of Esports Indonesia (PB ESI) expressed its concern over the incident that occurred at SMAN 72 Jakarta. Moreover, the incident arose amid increasing public attention to the government's plan to limit online games, including PUBG for children.

As one of the outstanding sports in Indonesia either nationally or internationally, PB ESI's Head of Communication, Debora Imanuella, emphasized that Indonesia has extraordinary esports talents.

"Indonesia esports athletes are young talents who have continued to contribute to making Indonesia proud on the world stage with their achievements in becoming World Champions, Asian Champions, SEA Games Champions, Asian Youth Games Champions, and competitions between other countries," he told VOI on Thursday, November 13.

In the midst of the government's plan to reorganize regulations and potential restrictions on online games for children, PB ESI emphasized that the state still needs the best esports athletes to represent Indonesia on the international stage.

PB ESI ensures that it will continue to carry out the task of fostering and developing esports ecosystems, especially for games competed between countries.

PB ESI also appealed to all parties to play an active role in fostering the interests and talents of the younger generation in a healthy and directed manner, so that they do not just play games without purpose.

"This includes continuing to encourage his sons and daughters to play games according to their age, provide assistance, cooperate with educators to learn esports and their values, instead of just playing games without purpose," he said.

He also stated that esports is different from playing ordinary online/digital games. According to him, esports have competitive goals, require high discipline and commitment, require fast analyzing power, good intelligence, teamwork, and a healthy lifestyle.
