JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), China's highest industrial regulator, announced that it is preparing plans to deepen the implementation of the AI Plus Manufacturing initiative.

This step aims to ensure that the country with the largest manufacturing power in the world can take full advantage of artificial intelligence (AI) to improve its industrial economy.

This plan was disclosed in an article signed directly by MIIT Minister Li Lecheng in Dangjian magazine published on Monday. The article describes China's strategic direction in the development of technology and industrial transformation in the future.

Li said that China will build a comprehensive policy framework to support the implementation of AI, including the issuance of implementation guidelines for AI + Manufacturing'' plans. This policy will specifically highlight the need for smart transformation for key industries, critical production processes, as well as strategic sectors, and will be equipped with guidance on AI implementation for manufacturing companies.

The minister also emphasized China's strong position in the global landscape of AI, with the national AI industry showing extraordinary growth momentum.

According to data from the Chinese Information and Communication Technology Academy (CAICT), the value of China's AI core industry is estimated to have surpassed 900 billion yuan (approximately 126 billion US dollars) by 2024. This growth is supported by more than 5,000 AI companies as well as more than 400 national-scale AI companies in the "little giant" category. small and medium enterprises recognized for their innovation and technological excellence.

In the future, Li proposes six main strategies to advance AI-based industrialization. This comprehensive framework includes accelerating core technology breakthroughs, deepening AI integration in manufacturing, developing highly competitive AI companies, optimizing industrial development environments, strengthening security systems and governance, and expanding international cooperation.

The integration of large language AI models with advanced manufacturing equipment including connected smart electric vehicles and precision industrial machines is also an important focus. In addition, the ministry will accelerate the development of AI agents in its entire life cycle, ranging from design, development, testing, to implementation, while exploring the potential of multi-agent-based collaborative ecosystems.
