Menkomdigi Meutya Believes Indonesian Startups Can Still Grow More Rapidly

JAKARTA - Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs (Menkomdigi) Meutya Hafid emphasized that the tech winter phenomenon does not only occur in Indonesia, but also at the global level.

Although there are still many challenges that need to be faced, Meutya assesses that the national startup ecosystem still shows great potential with a high level of success.

"The rate of startup success is much greater the total value of the growth stage startup and the initial stage reached around 10 billion US dollars, while the number of failures was less than 1 billion dollars," said Meutya at the Tech in Asia Conference 2025 event on Wednesday, October 22 in Jakarta.

"Although the failure rate is small, this shows that there is still room for us to continue to convince that Indonesian startups can grow more rapidly in the future," said Meutya.

According to Meutya, this figure illustrates that the contribution of Indonesian startups to the national economy is significant and continues to grow.

During his one year reign, Meutya stated that Komdigi had added 100 thousand jobs from startups directly and millions of others were indirectly affected.

He also highlighted the importance of rebuilding public trust in the digital ecosystem after declining due to several fraud cases.

"The game is not much, but quite hitting confidence level in our digital ecosystem. Thus we multiply bringing in global investors to ensure that there are a lot of local works of the nation's children that can also emerge," he explained.

He added that the government is committed to strengthening the foundation of the digital ecosystem so that Indonesia's startup growth is more sustainable and can compete in the global market.
