The Deputy Minister Of Communication And Trade Of The Nezar Emphasized The Important Utilization Of AI And Data In The Agriculture Sector

Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Nezar Patria emphasized the importance of artificial intelligence (AI) and data as the key to the transformation of the Indonesian agricultural sector.

Therefore, Nezar emphasized the need for equitable internet access to all regions in Indonesia, including rural areas, which is the foundation for creating sustainable agriculture.

"To really take advantage of AI power and data, a strong digital infrastructure is very important. This includes evenly distributed broadband access and an inclusive digital platform for farmers and agri-food business actors," Nezar said on Tuesday, July 29 in its official broadcast.

According to him, digital transformation is not just following trends, but a strategic necessity to answer national food security challenges.

He gave an example of how technology such as smart sensors, drones, automation, and predictive analytics can increase production efficiency, reduce waste, and strengthen supply chains from upstream to downstream.

"AI and data can revolutionize our entire agri-food ecosystem," he said.

Meanwhile, Nezar stated, the Ministry of Komdigi is accelerating the development of digital infrastructure in villages, encouraging data literacy, and collaborating with campuses such as UGM for research, training, and development of technology-based agricultural solutions.

Therefore, the Deputy Minister of Communication and Trade, Nezar Patria, invites all parties, especially academics and farmers, to work together to encourage national food sovereignty.

"AI and data are bridges to Indonesia's more productive, inclusive, and sustainable agricultural future," he concluded.
