MediaTek Launches Dimensity Chip 8450: New Power For Smartphones

JAKARTA - MediaTek officially introduced its newest chipset, Dimensity 8450 5G SoC, which was built using a second-generation 4nm fabrication process. This chip comes with an 8 core CPU configuration, GPU Arm Mali-G720 MC7, and 6th generation APU to support advanced AI capabilities.

Dimensity 8450 also supports LPDDR5X RAM, UFS 4.0 storage, 5G-A connectivity, cameras to 320MP, and a WQHD+ screen with a refresh rate of 144Hz, promising high performance as well as power efficiency.

Dimensity 8450 is designed for high-end smartphones in the price segment slightly below premium flagship. Its advanced fabrication process of TSMC provides maximum efficiency and performance. Its CPU consists of 1 Cortex-X4 core with a speed of 3.25 GHz as the primary core, 3 Cortex-A720 cores at 3 GHz for performance, and 4 Cortex-A520 cores at 2.1 GHz for power efficiency.

For graphics and gaming needs, this chipset relies on the Arm Mali-G720 MC7 GPU with 7 cores, which are supported by MediaTek's HyperEngine MAGT 3.0 technology for a smoother gaming experience and more stunning visuals.

In the era of artificial intelligence, Dimensity 8450 also brought the 6th generation AI (APU) processing unit with NPU 880 which is capable of running AI-generative features and Agentic AI Engine technology.

In terms of memory, this chipset supports LPDDR5X RAM at speeds of up to 8533 Mbps, as well as UFS 4.0 storage with Multi-Circular Queue (MCQ) technology that accelerates the process of loading applications and data transfer.

For connectivity, Dimensity 8450 presents a 5G-A Sub-6GHz modem with a Carrier Aggregation 3CC capability, providing download speeds of up to 5.17 Gbps. In addition, available Wi-Fi 6E with 2T2R antennas, Bluetooth 5.4, dual SIM 5G, as well as support for various GNSS standards for accurate location tracking.

For photography lovers, this chipset includes ISP Imagine 1080 which is capable of supporting cameras with a resolution of up to 320MP. The 4K 60fps video with HDR (HLG) and the Dual EIS feature is also supported for stable and high quality recording results. On the screen side, Dimensity 8450 can drive a WQHD+ resolution panel with a 144Hz high refresh rate.

MediaTek also provides this chipset with UltraSave 3.0+ technology for better power usage optimization, helping to extend device battery life.
