JAKARTA - Apple is known to be preparing a third-generation AirPods Pro (AirPods Pro 3), after the device's reference was found in the iOS 26 beta operating system code.
iOS 26 was just announced at the WWDC 2025 event on June 9, 2025, and in a short time, researchers discovered traces of the presence of an unreleased device in the system code.
Along with the introduction of iOS, Apple also released a beta version for developers from iPadOS 26, watchOS 11, and another operating system that carries a new design called "Liquid Glass".
Most interestingly, the iOS 26 code explicitly states AirPods Pro 3, side by side with current models, the AirPods Pro 2 and the first generation AirPods Pro. This is not the first time something similar has happened. On May 15, 2025, Apple's software update also mentions the term AirPods Pro 2 or later', reinforcing the allegation that a third version is under development.
The AirPods Pro last received a major update in 2023, including replacement of the Lightning to USB-C connector and lossless audio support for Apple Vision Pro devices. Previously, the 2022 AirPods Pro 2 brought improved Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) features and integration with the Find My feature.
Rumors related to AirPods Pro 3 have been circulating since late 2024, including the possibility of the presence of a heart rate monitoring feature. This feature is already in Powerbeats Pro 2 which was launched some time ago, and is likely to be brought to AirPods Pro 3 as an additional selling value.

Apple has registered patents on heart rate sensors since 2014 and 2017. If this feature is really present, it will be a big step towards making AirPods more than just audio devices.
AirPods Pro 3 is also rumored to be bringing in a new design, improving the quality of the ANC, and using the latest H3 chip for better performance. It is estimated that this device will be launched in conjunction with the iPhone 17 launch event in September 2025.
If Apple maintains the same price strategy, then the AirPods Pro 3 will be priced at US$249 (around Rp4,063,170), the same as its predecessor.
Beyond that, Apple is also reportedly developing several other AirPods models, including a lightweight version of AirPods Max, as well as a new variant with cameras for Visual Intelligence features.
