JAKARTA - Taiwan's cyber forces have said they are not afraid of China's threats offering gifts for the arrest of 20 people who Beijing says are Taiwanese military hackers. Taiwan's Ministry of Defense insists that China's legal system has no jurisdiction on the island's ngara.
China views democratically-ruled Taiwan as its own territory and in the past five years increasing military and political pressure on the island. The Taiwanese government rejects Beijing's claim to sovereignty.
Last week, the Public Security Bureau in the Chinese city of Guangzhou announced that the hackers were part of Taiwan's military Information, Communication and Electronic Command. They publish photos, names, and identity numbers of the Taiwanese hackers. They even offered prizes of more than $1.000 for those who managed to catch them.
On Wednesday, June 11, China's Taiwan Affairs Office said the government would "act thoroughly and would not provide relief," using legal channels to "discontinue" their activities.
Late evening on the same day, Taiwan's Ministry of Defense's Electronic Forces Command stated that China continues to use "fake cyber hacking incidents to distort facts" and offer cross-border rewards.
According to the Taiwanese constitution, the Chinese Communist Party has no legal jurisdiction over the island and the Chinese law "does not have a real binding force" for Taiwanese citizens.

"The Chinese Communist Party has used its laws and domestic regulations to systematically manipulate public opinion with the aim of creating remote jurisdictions and undermine our military spirit," the statement added.
"The officers and soldiers of the Information, Communication and Electronic Command will not be affected by this and will continue to maintain a digital frontline and maintain national security through a solid defense of information."
Taiwan has repeatedly accused China of carrying out massive hacking attacks and spreading fake news through social media and other ways to undermine public trust in the government.
