JAKARTA - In the The Asia Get Together at London Tech Week 2025" event, Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Nezar Patria, explained Indonesia's vision of balancing artificial intelligence innovation (AI) with responsible governance.

According to him, Indonesia has a special approach in balancing AI innovations with governance, especially in the fields of data privacy, algorithmic justice, and public trust.

"We believe that innovation must go hand in hand with governance. Indonesia's approach has a roots in dual commitment: enabling agile innovation and protecting democratic values," Nezar said in an official broadcast on Tuesday, June 10.

However, Nezar also believes that there are challenges faced, such as digital infrastructure that is not evenly distributed, the need for AI talent developers on a large scale, as well as long-term investments in education, especially STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).

Therefore, he emphasized the important role of international forums such as London Tech Week in bridging AI collaborations between Asia and the West. London Tech Week is considered more than just a stage to showcase innovation, but rather as a global bridge builder.

This kind of Forum allows cross-border partnerships in research and commercialization of AI, joint regulatory experiments through regulatory sandboxes, knowledge transfer and capacity building, to capital mobilization as Western investors seek emerging markets with high growth, Nezar explained.

The participation of the Deputy Minister of Nezar Patria in London Tech Week 2025 emphasized Indonesia's commitment to be active in global discussions about AI's future and strengthen its position as a key player in Asia's digital and global ecosystems.
