JAKARTA Meta and Google plan to add a subsea cable network in Indonesia. This plan was disclosed by the Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) Meutya Hafid.
Meutya said that the two technology companies plan to build additional cables under the sea. However, not much information can be disclosed regarding the plan to build this submarine cable.
"Many (plans for building subsea cables) want to enter, including Meta and Google. They want to build subsea cables. This can help us improve (connectivity in Indonesia)," said Meutya when met at the Komdigi Office on Thursday, June 5.
According to Meutya, this development plan benefits the state because they no longer need to rely on the budget of the state budget to improve cable networks in the country. The government can rely on investments such as the construction of this cable.
