JAKARTA - To reduce language barriers, Google has started rolling out the greeting language translator feature (Translation Speech) on Google Meet, in the Google I/O 2025 event.

"Language differences are a fundamental obstacle in dealing with other people either when you work in different areas or just chatting with family abroad," Google said in its announcement.

This new feature will translate the words you say into other languages that are mastered by the interlocutor, almost directly, with low latency.

This feature will also keep your voice, tone, and expression visible even when translated so that people who speak different languages can have a natural conversation.

The result is a conversation that feels authentic and natural, even cross-language, whether it's English-speaking grandchildren chatting easily with their Spanish-speaking grandparents, or global intercontinental-connected colleagues, the search giant added.

Starting today, the translation of speech in Google Meet will begin rolling out to Google AI Pro and Ultra package customers in beta, and will only be available in English and Spanish.

However, Google insists that they will bring this greeting translator feature to more other languages in the coming weeks.

"We are also continuing to develop this capability for businesses, with preliminary testing that will be available to Workspace subscribers this year," the announcement concluded.

The English, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, and French versions are automatically generated by the AI. So there may still be inaccuracies in translating, please always see Indonesian as our main language. (system supported by DigitalSiber.id)
