Tools For Humanity Affirms World Doesn't Save Any User Data

JAKARTA - Tools for Humanity, the company behind the World project, including Worldcoin and World ID, emphasized that it upholds the protection of users' personal data.

This statement comes when netizens are busy on social media worried about the security of their data. But once again, the companies made by OpenAI CEOs Sam Altman and Alex Blania emphasized that they do not have any data.

"Tools for Humanity upholds the protection of users' personal data as our top priority. World ID is designed to verify the uniqueness of individuals in the AI era, without storing personal or biometric information," the company said in an official statement received by VOI on Monday, May 5.

The company says that the World ID function is to ensure that one is a real and unique human being, without identifying their personal identity.

So, during the verification process, the state-of-the-art camera, known as the Orb, took an eyeshot to produce a numerical code (called the iris code), which only aims to prove that one is a unique individual.

This code is then processed cryptographically and converted into a number of anonymous numbers using cutting-edge techniques, so these numbers cannot be linked back to any individual.

This anonymous figure is then stored separately in a database managed by trusted third parties, such as universities. In this way, users can prove that they are unique humans anonymously.

The original image and the iris code are then encrypted and sent to the user's device, then removed from the camera, so that the control of the data is entirely in the hands of the user, "said the company.

Meanwhile, the Tools for Humanity has also voluntarily suspended its verification services in Indonesia. This is in line with the decision of the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs to temporarily freeze the operations of Worldcoin and World ID in Indonesia.
