JAKARTA - A report titled "Securing OT with Purpose-building Solutions," from Kaspersky highlights the serious challenges lurking behind digital transformation, especially in the Asia Pacific region.
Based on the report, several of the main factors are inadequate cybersecurity resources, challenges of compliance with policies, to the complexity of integration between IT and OT systems.
According to a survey involving more than 250 OT and IT decision makers from various industries, including energy, utilities, transportation, logistics, and manufacturing, 31.1 percent of the company is still in the manual process.
However, the majority or as much as 63.6 percent of them are optimistic that they can completely transform into digital in the next two years.
The good news is that digitalization in Asia Pacific is already more advanced. Where only 22 percent of companies are still in the early stages of using technology, while the rest have taken advantage of digital technology, even 9 percent of which have reached full digital maturity.
But behind that progress, concerns about cybersecurity are also getting bigger. Kaspersky noted that 39.3 percent of respondents in Asia Pacific admitted that their digitization was hampered by cybersecurity issues.
This fact is further strengthened because 68 percent of companies in the region face a shortage of security capabilities, while another 56 percent lack of personnel and budget.
