JAKARTA The Threads will get more ads in the near future. The reason is, Meta will expand the service that is still being tested to more eligible advertisers.
The service will expand to advertisers around the world, but Meta will do so gradually. The parent company of Threads and Instagram will launch ads on select markets before expanding them to other countries.
"This agreement will be broadcast on select markets at launch and will roll out to additional markets while we continue to test and learn," Meta said in the company's updated blog on Wednesday, April 23.
In the early stages of expansion, Meta Spokesman Matthew Tye said they would start testing in 30 countries. It was not explained what countries the company was targeting, but Tye mentioned the US.
"We are taking a gradual approach to launching ads on Threads while studying more about how to maximize user experience and advertisers," Tye said, quoted by The Verge.

Previously, Threads was widely liked by X users who migrated because the platform lacked advertising, and there were almost no advertisements in it. However, in the end, Threads officials realized that social media was a 'business' for them.
"I understand why people are worried, but in the end we are a business and Threads need to make enough money to pay for the people and servers needed to run the service," said lead Threads Adam Mosseri some time ago.
Although later ads will blend with regular posts, this integrated platform with Instagram will display a Disponsored label at the top. That way, users can distinguish the usual posts and posts that Threads advertise.
