JAKARTA TikTok is the next digital platform to support online gambling eradication (Judol). Together with the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi), TikTok launched the #LawanJudol campaign.

The campaign, which was introduced at the end of February, has the theme Break The Cycle, Awaken Potential, create Dreams. Through this campaign, TikTok wants to show its commitment to building and advancing a secure and positive digital ecosystem.

As part of the #LawanJudol campaign, TikTok Indonesia's Head of Public Policy and Government Relations, Hilmi Adrianto, revealed that TikTok has removed nearly a million Judol content. The total reaches 900,000 content throughout 2024.

Of these, 86 percent of them were immediately deleted before getting the number of shows. This action shows that TikTok has succeeded in increasing the effectiveness of its moderation system supported by automated technology.

In addition, more than 99 percent of content about gambling was successfully removed before it was reported by users. Not only content, TikTok also removed more than 2.2 million comments and nearly 35,000 paid ads used to promote gambling.

"TikTok is committed to combating the spread of online gambling through clear policies, strong security features, and tight moderation (which)," Hilmi said. "We hope this campaign can be a collaborative step to build a digital ecosystem."

To expand the #LawanJudol campaign on its platform, TikTok launched an official page for the campaign. This page is available in the app and displays educational content about the dangers of Judol from creators.

TikTok also displays government complaint services as well as ways to complain about Judol content. If users want to access more detailed information and resources, TikTok also provides them on the page.

All accessible information and resources in #LawanJudol are taken from Komdigi, the Coordinating Ministry for Human Empowerment, and the Presidential Communication Office.
