JAKARTA - In the midst of a growing digital landscape and also as a banking institution that handles nearly 100 million transactions per day, PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) affirms its commitment to maintaining the security of every customer transaction.

Although various efforts to strengthen security continue, cyber threats are also growing and increasingly complex. BCA's Senior Executive Vice President of Strategic Information Technology Group, David Formula, revealed four types of cyber crime landscapes.

First, David highlighted the trend of ransomware attacks, which encrypt victim data and requested ransom so that data could be accessed again. In addition, there is also a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack that seeks to paralyze the system by flooding servers with excessive traffic.

"Third, social engineering, including phishing, which targets customers with fraud modes. Finally, malware distributed via links or unofficial applications and can take over customer accounts," David explained.

To answer these cybersecurity challenges, BCA emphasizes a comprehensive security approach that includes three main aspects, namely people (people), processes (processes), and technology (technology).

In terms of people, BCA has a team of experts dedicated to monitoring the system during 24-7 and analyzing attack patterns to prevent and respond to threats proactively.

In terms of process, BCA adopts strict security standards that refer to national regulations, international standards such as ISO and NIST, as well as best practices from various countries.

"Meanwhile, in terms of technology, BCA implements advanced security systems, including the use of artificial intelligence (AI)," David explained further.

Not to forget, BCA also prioritizes collaborative attitudes, by sharing data related to the latest security breaches to regulators, including a list of malicious IPs, to warn other banks against potential cyber threats.
