YouTube Will Release Premium Lite, Cheap Package With Limited Ads

JAKARTA The current price of the YouTube Premium subscription package is quite expensive for a number of users. They have to pay Rp. 69,000 and do not include tax fees for individual packages per month.

Therefore, many users survive using YouTube for free even though they don't really like the ad break. Fortunately, the news of Premium Lite's YouTube launch, a cheaper subscription, is getting closer.

Premium Lite is not a completely new subscription package because it has been tested for several years in a number of countries and has been released. However, YouTube withdrew the package from the European state and continued its trials in other countries.

The trials were conducted in October 2024 in Germany, Australia and Thailand. Now, Bloomberg reports that YouTube will release the subscription package in a country that has been tested, including in the US. It is not yet known when the launch will take place.

Premium Lite will target users who like to watch music videos or other types of content. Basically, this package still has ads, but not as many as the free YouTube version. This latest package will get more limited ads.

Although the launch date is not yet known, the price of Premium Lite has been disclosed by a number of users who saw the package. Packages with limited advertising will be sold at a price of 8.99 Australian dollars or around Rp93 thousand.

When compared to the usual YouTube Premium in Australia, the price is much different because the Individual package is priced at 16.99 Australian dollars or around Rp. 177 thousand. In the future, Premium Lite subscription packages will be tested in more countries.

"We look forward to expanding this offering to more users in the future with the support of our partners," YouTube spokeswoman Paul Pennington said, quoted by The Verge.
