Menkomdigi Meutya Says PP Judi Online Will Involve Many Sectors

JAKARTA - Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Meutya Hafid, revealed that the government is preparing Government Regulations (PP) to strengthen efforts to eradicate online gambling in Indonesia.

According to Meutya, the formation of this PP is also one of the focuses of attention from the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, to see the facts in which online gamblers continue to emerge in various ways.

"The TAKEdown carried out by the Ministry of Communication and Trade and also the big platforms has been carried out on a large scale. However, as you have said, there are still gaps to emerge, which we think then we also need PP," said Meutya when met at the Ministry of Communication and Trade office on Tuesday, February 18.

However, because the creation of this PP will involve various other Ministries/Institutions, and new directives have been given, this regulation will still be discussed in the future.

Meutya emphasized that it would involve various sectors, including payment systems, banking regulations, and regulations from the Financial Services Authority (OJK).

"So the payment system, banking regulations, regulations in the OJK, also need to be inline with this. Now the regulations are only in the Ministry of Communication and Industry, not supported by other regulations," he explained.

With the PP, it is hoped that all these rules can be in harmony in eradicating online gambling more thoroughly. "So hopefully, it can be discussed in the future. But this is a directive from the new President yesterday," said the deputy chairman of the Golkar Party.
