After Discussion With Experts, Komdigi Calls PSE To Godok Children's Friendly Internet Regulations

JAKARTA - After holding a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with several academics, experts, and related Ministries/Institutions, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs held a dialogue with a number of Electronic System Operators (PSE).

The PSE in question includes YouTube, TikTok, Vidio, Meta, representatives of the Game, Fintech and Transportation industry, as well as digital and technology industry associations.

During this meeting, the Director General of Digital Space Supervision of Komdigi, Alexander Sabar, emphasized the importance of creating a safe digital space for children.

Therefore, regulations are needed that can be applied in real terms to protect children from exposure to harmful content. Thus, Komdigi needs input and involvement of PSE in regulating this policy.

"We want to ensure that this regulation can run well and provide optimal protection for children. Therefore, the involvement of various parties is very important so that the policies prepared are not only comprehensive, but can also be implemented effectively," said Alex.

Through this discussion, Komdigi hopes that the policies that will be made will not only be legally strong, but also to build a safe and friendly digital ecosystem for children.

Discussions cover various strategic issues, including the minimum age limit for creating accounts and accessing digital platforms independently, classifying digital services based on risk levels, verifying user age mechanisms, and implementing more child-friendly features.

Executive Director of the Indonesian Joint Funding Fintech Association (AFPI), Yasmine Meylia, highlighted how the fintech sector has implemented age restrictions through regulations that require the ownership of ID cards.

Meanwhile, in a meeting with YouTube's Deputy President of Public Policy, Leslie Miller, at the Google Paris Office, Menkomdigi Meutya Hafid expressed Google's support for the policy.
