Alert! This Google Ad Can Steal Your Microsoft Account

JAKARTA Google is the most popular search engine so it is often misused by cybercriminals. There are many malicious advertisements circulating on Google to spread malicious websites.

Recently, an advertisement appeared on behalf of Microsoft. This ad will appear on the main search page related to Microsoft ads. In fact, when the ad is knocked, someone will steal your Microsoft account credentials and infiltrate them.

This attack was first revealed by Malwarebytes, an anti-virus software developer, anti-mallware, and also anti-spyware. When someone looks for the 'Microsoft Ads' query in the Google search field, they need to be careful with the ads displayed.

In fact, the top ad is a fake copy of the Microsoft Ads website. This sponsorship link is almost similar to the original ad, but the URL looks a little strange. Unfortunately, not everyone cares about the URL they access because the label 'Disponsored' looks convincing.

Fake Microsoft Ads Can Steal Accounts

This fake Microsoft Ads website is not always accessible. If bots realize that users visit their website with VPN, they will display a fake landing page. However, if the URL is accessed directly without going through an ad, strange things will be visible.

The website will show a video of Rick Astley singing the song Never Gonna Give You Up. The view that really traps is only visible if a user visits his website via a Google ad because Microsoft's login page will appear.

This login page is of course fake and a criminal who makes the web waiting for the victim to be provoked. Like the regular login page, web visitors will be asked to enter usernames, passwords, and two-factor authentication code (2FA).

Without the need to press the submission, all this information will be used by cybercriminals and your account will be stolen. This is a form of crime that can still be prevented if you closely observe the appearance or shape of the URL.
