WhatsApp is testing its ability to send high-resolution photos through their platform. This was reported according to WABetaInfo.

"This feature definitely improves the user experience when sending images, and is currently being introduced to some beta users!' explained WABetaInfo.

WABetaInfo found this new feature in the latest WhatsApp beta version for iOS and Android, iOS 23.11.0.76 and Android 2.23.12.13, respectively. By default, WhatsApp currently reduces the quality of the photos you send by 70 percent.

While this ensures faster data sharing, it can be very annoying, especially if you plan to share those photos on other platforms, such as Instagram. However, in the beta version of WhatsApp, there is an option to set photo quality when sending images.

WABetaInfo shared a screenshot of the feature and stated: "As seen in this screenshot, you can choose better quality when sending photos, and this option only appears when you select a large photo."

By default, photos will still be sent in'standard quality', but users will have the option to select new HD options.

"It should be noted that this does not mean you can send photos in their original quality because this option retains image dimensions, but light compression remains applied to images," explained WABetaInfo.

When photos are sent in HD mode, there will be a sign indicating that the photo is a high-quality photo through the label on the message balloon.

Currently, this new feature is only limited to photos, and videos will still be compressed before sending. It's not clear when this new HD photo option will be available to all users.
