JAKARTA - Instagram makes it easier for users to chat with each other in group chats and private DMs about a post through the Collaborative Collections feature or Collaborative Collection.

This Collaborative Collection feature, according to Instagram, can trigger private discussions based on posts from other users (friends or family), which can then be added by users in any chat.

Collaborative collection is a new way to focus interaction around trending posts, not sharing with one person or copying links.

In other words, now users can share posts with friends or a group of friends and save them in a special room.

According to Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri, users who know each other can save posts they meet on Instagram feed, Reels, Explore page, and even DM.

"Now that you're going to save content in the Feed or from your DM, you'll see a new option to create a collaborative collection," Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri said via IG Updates Channel on Instagram.

From there you can provide collections of special names and share collections with your friends. Once they receive them, your friends can also start adding content from Reels, Explore, Feed, and DM to collections," he added.

To use this feature, simply press the marker icon in the lower right corner of another user's post that you want to save, select the option to create a new Collaborative Collection, name it, then activate an option that says Allow friends to join this collection.

From there, users can add up to 250 people to the collection. Instagram says users can also create Collaborative Collections from within the chat.

Once completed, anyone in the chat will be able to add or remove images from the collection together, making it a fun way to exchange ideas or share funny posts with friends.

For information, Instagram first launched its Pinterest-like collection feature in 2017, where users can store and set other user posts into separate categories, as quoted from TechCrunch, Thursday, March 30.
