Rapper Kanye West Cancels Purchase Of The Parler Social Media Platform, This Is The Reason

JAKARTA - The parent company of the social media platform Parler, Parliament Technologies, and American rapper Kanye West, now called Ye, has agreed to stop Parler's sales intentions. This statement came from Parliament Technologies on Thursday, December 1.

"This decision was made in the interests of both sides in mid-November," the company said in a statement. "Parlers will continue to pursue future platform growth and evolution opportunities for our dynamic community."

Previously, Parliament Technologies and Ye had announced plans for the purchase agreement in October. At the time the company said it expected the deal to close in the fourth quarter of 2022.

Ye has been criticized in recent months for making anti-Semitic statements. On November 22 he had dinner with former US President Donald Trump at Trump's private club in Florida along with Nick Fuentes, a prominent white supremacy.

In September, Ye ended her partnership with clothing retailer Gap Inc. German sports performer Adidas also ended his partnership with Ye in October.

Parler, launched in 2018, has reactivated in Google and Apple Inc app stores after being removed due to the US Capitol riots in January 2021. Parler was one of several social media platforms, including Gettr, Gab, and Truth Social, which positioned itself as an alternative to free speech for Twitter Inc before its new holdings under billionaire Elon Musk.
