JAKARTA - The long-awaited Ethereum merger has finally happened, and the crypto community cannot sit idly by. Euphoria also arose among these coin enthusiasts.

Moments after that historic crypto event, one of the users scored the first nonfungible token (NFT) on proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus.

Officially, The Merge takes place on Thursday 15 September at 06:42 UTC (Friday 16 September at 01:42 WIB) in block 15537393. The first announcement of NFT printing and selling came shortly after at 07:08 am UTC.

The NFT, which is a time capsule of the first mint bear NFT moment in the iconic panda face, was quickly bought for 36 Ether (ETH).

Following the announcement of the first PoS NFT, Crypto Twitter exploded with retweets and comments. Community comments ranged from “doubtful decision-making” to calling it “fire.” One user even questioned whether the Merge panda would be the new ape, about the iconic Bored Ape Yacht Club persona.

After word got out about the printing and sale of the first NFT, so began the first avalanche for the new blockchain operating system.

Sheldon Evans, the founder of lifestyle brand Web3 Bloom, tweeted that the brand created the first official NFT collection to be printed on the PoS network.

While some are proudly showing off their first-print digital assets and collectibles, others in the Ethereum community are proud to showcase their first purchases on the new system.

Consensys, Joseph Lubin's blockchain software company, is also encouraging community members to make their first transaction on PoS by printing one of their own commemorative NFTs to celebrate The Merge.

The Merger has also sparked the creation of big names like Beeple, who created Merger-inspired illustrations of the massive, slowly forming Ethereum logo backed by scientists. Ethereum Foundation members also got creative, and composed and performed a song dedicated to the event.
