JAKARTA - Activision Blizzard said on Monday, August 1, that in the second quarter of this year which ended last June, their monthly active users experienced a decline.

The company admits that the number of monthly active users has decreased over time. The number of active monthly active users of Activision in the first quarter of 2022 was 100 million, while the second quarter was only 94 million.

This number also decreased from 2019 and 2021. In that year, Activision always got monthly active users above 100 million. In fact, in 2021, they will get 150 million active users.

"Second-quarter revenue and operating income declined year over year, reflecting lower engagement for the Call of Duty franchise, but growing compared to the first quarter," Activision said.

However, apart from the bad news earlier, there is also good news to come. Activision has confirmed that Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 will launch on October 28.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2 will also launch as an extension of the Modern Warfare universe later this year.

"The expanded Activision studio also continues to make strong progress on innovative mobile experiences that will expand Warzone to the largest and fastest growing platform," the company explained.

It was also announced in January that Xbox owner Microsoft plans to acquire Activision Blizzard in a $68.7 billion deal.
