JAKARTA - Take-Two Interactive Software Inc. announced on Monday, May 23 local time that it had completed its combination with Zynga Inc.

Rockstar owners Take-Two revealed in January that they planned to buy Zynga in a $12.7 billion deal that was approved by the organization's respective shareholders last week.

The deal is the biggest acquisition in the history of the gaming industry. The amount even surpassed the 8.6 billion US dollars (IDR 120 trillion) from the 2016 acquisition of Tencent to buy Finnish mobile game development studio Supercell.

“We are excited to complete our combination with Zynga, which is an important step towards exponentially increasing our net bookings from mobile, the fastest-growing segment in interactive entertainment, while also providing us with substantial cost synergies and revenue opportunities,” said Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick, quoted from Business Ware.

Zynga CEO Frank Gibeau also commented that he is very excited about Zynga's next-generation mobile platform. “Free play skills, great game offerings and a great team to join the Take-Two family.”

Gibeau says it wants to continue to build an unrivaled portfolio of games that will reach a wider market and lead to sustainable growth for the next chapter of Zynga's history.
