JAKARTA - Call of Duty: Warzone continues to receive regular updates. Activision had also confirmed earlier in the year that a sequel was in development in Infinity Ward, and would be released later this year.

Activision hasn't provided any specifics yet, but according to a recent quarterly fiscal report on Activision's investor website, the company reiterated that the sequel Call of Duty: Warzone 2 was built from the ground up and will feature groundbreaking innovations.

It has been confirmed that a sequel, Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is in development on a new engine, the same as the follow-up Modern Warfare (2019), which will also be used for every new Call of Duty.

Previous leaks have suggested that the follow-up to Warzone won't be cross-generational and will instead be released only for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Official details about it will be revealed in the coming weeks and months.

Meanwhile, Activision once announced that they were opening vacancies for a number of new mobile roles. This means that a separate Call of Duty: Warzone experience is also in the works for mobile devices.

Recently, Activision Blizzard finally confirmed the long-rumored crossover for Call of Duty: Warzone. Godzilla and King Kong will arrive in the battle royale on May 11.

Blizzard also revealed the World of Warcraft Dragonflight expansion on Tuesday, March 19. Dragonflight will allow players to explore Dragon Island, the ancestral home of Azeroth's dragonflight.
