JAKARTA – As a maritime nation, Indonesia is now able to build modern warships that can be used to secure Indonesian sovereignty.

One of them is the 60-meter Fast Missile Ship (KCR) produced by PT PAL Indonesia (Persero) which was launched by Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto, last weekend.

These fast boats have capabilities that match the needs of Indonesia's defense, especially in conducting patrols. This ship is also believed to increase the strength of maritime defense.

This 60 Meter Missile Fast Ship (KCR) is one of the defense equipment products that shows the sophistication of PT PAL Indonesia's production. Starting from the design process carried out by the best Indonesian sons and daughters.

As a fast boat for patrols, KCR has agile maneuverability and is able to move quickly to carry out its functions in securing maritime areas and pursuing foreign ships that violate Indonesia's maritime territory.

The KCR, which was inaugurated by Prabowo last year, is the fifth and sixth vessels produced by PT PAL Indonesia.

In a written statement to the media, Prabowo explained that this ship would make Indonesia the "master" in its sea, land and air areas.

"We have big aspirations, we must be masters in our own sea, land and air. We are friendly with all countries but we will defend our sovereignty at all costs," Prabowo said at the launch event, Sunday, December 5.

The launch, which was held at the Ship Lift of PT PAL's Warship Division, Surabaya, East Java, was also attended by TNI Commander General Andika Perkasa, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Yudo Margono, and PT PAL President Director Kaharuddin Djenod.

Previously, PT PAL Indonesia had built three units of the 60-meter KCR platform which were part of the first batch of construction projects, namely KRI Sampari-628, KRI Tombak-629, and KRI Halasan-630.

In batch 2, the KRI Kerambit-627 was built, which was followed by the Fitted For But Not With (FFBNW) sensor system and KRI Kerambit-627 weapon system.

KCR 60M in batch 3 made a new history for PT PAL Indonesia, because for the first time the procurement of two ships was built complete between platforms and their weapons systems.

This KCR has an overall length of 60 meters with a width of 8.10 meters and a height of 4.85 meters which is capable of carrying a full payload of 450 to 500 tons.

Then KCR is also equipped with a weapon system capable of detecting targets in the air, surface, and under the sea. It is suitable for patrolling the marine areas of Indonesia.

Moreover, KCR also has patrol capabilities with qualified mileage and cruising speed to maintain the Indonesian territorial sea in Sea State 6 conditions and the ability to operate weapons in weapons operations at Sea State 4.

This ship can go with a maximum speed of 28 knots at full load condition with an endurance of 5 days.

For weapons systems, the KCR is equipped with a main gun (Main Gun) 57 mm Bofors, 20 mm Shipborne gun, and SSM (Surface to Surface Missile) Exocet 40MM B3, made in France.

KCR 60 will join and strengthen Indonesian warships that will serve in the Koarmada III fast ship unit.

The construction of the KCR by PT PAL Indonesia does not only include the construction of the platform, but also includes the installation of sensors and weapons systems.
