JAKARTA – This week Microsoft has just launched Windows 11. However, some users with Ryzen processor computers have complained about a number of problems on their devices after installing the new operating system.

In AMD's official blog post, the company warns Ryzen owners who are installing or upgrading to Windows 11, they may find the applications they are using slow down.

This is due to a Windows 11 bug that affects Ryzen processors specifically, causing the CPU to slow down by 15 percent.

It doesn't stop there, this issue also affects the app's access to the L3 cache by increasing the latency by three times. This means that the app will take longer to access memory which in turn affects its performance.

Apps will generally experience a 3 to 5 percent performance drop, but esports games can experience a 10 to 15 percent slowdown.

Another bug prevents Windows from properly using AMD's preferred core features. This feature is how the processor tells the OS which core can reach the highest clock speed.

Meanwhile, apps that run only a few threads will be affected, but it's not clear by how much. AMD does say that the effect will be most pronounced on processors with 8 cores or more and TDP above 65W.

AMD has acknowledged this issue and is working with Microsoft to resolve it. The fix is expected to arrive by the end of the month, if nothing goes wrong. What's more, it all depends on what kind of CPU you have and what software you're running. It is recommended, to delay the update to Windows 11 until the fix is rolled out.
