JAKARTA - Microsof has long been preparing for its newest generation game console, the Xbox Series X. This console is predicted to be a strong contender for the PlayStation 5 which will also be released in 2020.

Unlike Sony, which has yet to reveal the form of the PlayStation 5, Microsoft has presented the console form of the Xbox Series X. It has a black raised box design that at a glance looks like a PC device.

"(Series X) will provide four times the processing power of the Xbox One X but still quiet and efficient," said Microsoft Xbox boss Phil Spencer, as quoted by The Verge, Monday, December 16.

The X Series will offer a large memory capacity and offer better resolution and graphic images than its predecessor series. This console uses a custom CPU specification based on AMD Zen 2 and GPU with Radeon RDNA architecture.

According to Spancer, the Series X is claimed to be able to display games with 8k resolution with frame rates of up to 120 fps, complete with ray tracing and support for variable refresh rates. About storage, Microsoft finally left conventional hard drives and replaced them with NMVe SSDs which were much faster.

"It has been refined in size and shape to accommodate more people, and it also features a new Share button to make screenshots and game recordings simple," explained Spencer,

Microsoft will also embed a new wireless controller for the Xbox Series X. This controller remains compatible for the previous generation as well as for Windows PC use.

Although it has not officially released a price yet, Microsoft is predicted to set a price on the Xbox Series X console of USD 179.9 or around Rp.25 million at the current dollar exchange rate.
