Indian Government Allows Four Tesla Variants To Take To The Streets

JAKARTA - Tesla has received approval from local agencies for the launch of four variants of its vehicle on Indian roads. This means that the Model 3 and Y in several versions are approved for use in the country of Bollywood, although this does not oblige the manufacturer to immediately bring it to the local market.

Tesla has passed the homologation phase for the four models or variants that are seeking approval in India. Homologation is a process that confirms that the vehicle is suitable for use and meets all the necessary criteria.

This step is necessary to set the sales launch stage there. Without approval from local agencies, vehicle access to state roads is impossible. This is another important milestone for launching Tesla car sales in India.

According to the Ministry of Road and Highway Transport, Tesla India Motors and Energy has received approval for four variants of its vehicles, although the specific models and variants have not been mentioned.

Right now, though, we can make the bold assumption that it's the Model 3 and Y, which have been repeatedly spotted being tested on Indian roads. In terms of options, it's reasonable to assume that Tesla will start with the most affordable model and price.

Keep in mind that this approval does not mean the company will soon launch vehicle sales in India. Currently, Tesla is working on reducing import duties from the country's government, which means it has not yet completed the implementation of its plans.

According to the latest information, the Indian government may agree to reduce import duties on electric vehicles if the manufacturers meet certain requirements they put forward.
