Sony Quietly Releases A New PS5 Model With A Lighter Weight

JAKARTA - Sony has quietly released its latest flagship console, PlayStation 5 (PS5) Standard Edition, which appears to have the code CFI-1102A. But what makes it different from previous PS5 devices?

Quoting The Verge, Wednesday, August 25, this new PS5 has a number of differences with the older PS5 model with the code CFI-1000. One of them is the question of a lighter weight of 300 grams.

The first PS5 weighs 3.9 kg, while the new one is only 3.6 kg. Unfortunately, it is not yet known what components Sony uses to reduce the weight of the new console. This version of the PS5 is predicted to be more powerful thanks to a special chip from AMD.

Another change is also seen when Sony includes a base mounting screw that can be adjusted without using a screwdriver in the new PS5 Standard Edition. These screws are designed to be able to be tightened directly by hand so that it is more practical. Users do not need any tools to adjust the position of the console with the support.

Twitter user @bdp2007 has also tweeted a photo of what looks like an update to the entire stand, with a new clamp design.

Not only that, Sony will also unlock the M.2 SSD slot on the side of the console. Thus, users can increase the storage space for their favorite games. There are also updates in beta testers, including improvements to the PS5 dashboard UI, 3D audio support for the built-in TV speakers, and a better way to differentiate between PS4 and PS5 versions of games.
