JAKARTA - The United States (US) NASA space agency is experiencing difficulties and needs help from the world community on the Mars Rover mission. The public who wants to participate can help NASA in sorting out the data that Rover sent from Planet Mars.

Citing the official NASA website, the Curiosity Mars Rover vehicle has been working and exploring Mars for eight years, since it first landed in 2012. While there, Curiosity has sent thousands of data regarding the condition of the red planet.

"The usual process takes thousands of hours, but with the help of the public labeling the rock above the ground can bring about many changes to the famous robot," NASA said in a statement.

NASA itself invites the public to assist in the process of labeling the data that has been collected by the robot without its crew. Not only that, the public can also take part in compiling the algorithm for the Curiosity Rover when exploring Planet Mars.

Using the AI4Mars system, the public can participate in sorting data from the planet Mars. Even the public can participate in training the artificial intelligence system used by Curiosity, by adding the Soil Property and Object Classification (SPOC) algorithm.

"There are hundreds of thousands of examples needed to train the learning algorithm for Rover. Algorithms for self-driving cars, for example, to add to Curiosity's learning in carrying out its mission on Mars," explained NASA.

So far the Curiosity robot has sent 9,000 sample images of the Planet Mars. Thousands of images can be accessed through Zoonivers, for people who want to participate in helping this space project, can access this page.
