JAKARTA - The success of TikTok as a short creation video application that continues to compete with Instagram. Now, TikTok is trying to overtake LinkedIn, professional social media or job search.
Reporting from TikTok Newsroom, Thursday, July 8, the ByteDance subsidiary is rumored to have launched a new feature, namely #TikTokResumes. This feature was launched as a pilot program for applying for jobs via TikTok videos.
"We are pleased to launch "TikTok Resumes" as a pilot program designed to continue to expand and improve the TikTok service as a new channel for finding and recruiting jobs," said TikTok.
The company encourages applicants to showcase their skills in a creative way through a video while tagging content with the hashtag #TikTokResumes.
The pilot program is TikTok's latest attempt to streamline the relationship between brands and creators, providing even more reason to invest time and money into the platform.
TikTok believes, as careers in creative content evolve, its platform can be used as a new way to find talented job candidates.
“#CareerTok is already a thriving subculture on the platform and we can't wait to see how the community embraces TikTok Resume and helps reimagine hiring and job discovery,” said TikTok Global Head of Marketing Nick Tran as quoted by TechCrunch.
The new pilot program can be found via a special hashtag and on the tiktokresumes.com site. TikTok also provides some tips for successful job applications and takes video samples.
On the site, anyone can browse job listings by employer and fill out a short questionnaire, attaching their video link. Chances are, potential applicants will still be able to pin their LinkedIn profile.
TikTok views the new trial as a "natural extension" of the college's ambassador program, which recruits students to become on-campus representatives promoting social networking brands. Users can take advantage of this pilot program by submitting job applications from 7 July to 31 July.
It should be noted, the new #TikTokResumes feature can be used by users in the United States (US). Possibly in the near future, the company will launch it globally.
