Galaxy Z Flip8 Reportedly Lighter, Weighing Around 180 Grams

JAKARTA - Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 is rumored to come with a lighter body than its predecessor. The folding phone is said to weigh around 180 grams, or 8 grams lighter than the Galaxy Z Flip7.

GSMArena quoted Monday, July 13, saying the information came from technology leaker Ice Universe. Samsung is expected to introduce the Galaxy Z Flip8 along with the Galaxy Z Fold8 series at the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22.

The 8 gram difference may seem small. However, the lighter weight can make the Galaxy Z Flip8 more comfortable to use.

The same leak says the thickness of the Galaxy Z Flip8 reaches 6.1 millimeters when unfolded. This figure does not include the protective rubber layer around the inner screen.

If the protector is included in the calculation, its thickness is said to reach 6.6 millimeters. That size is roughly the same as the Galaxy Z Flip7.

Previous leaks also mention that the Galaxy Z Flip8 will bring a better hinge design. The former fold in the middle of the screen is expected to look more subtle.

Apart from these changes, Samsung is likely to still retain most of the hardware from the Galaxy Z Flip7, including the outer screen, battery capacity, and camera arrangement.
