JAKARTA - The Nusantara Five satellite is officially operational and will play an important role in accelerating the equalization of internet access in Indonesia, especially in the leading, outermost, and lagging regions (3T).

"Today we are proud to inaugurate the operation of Nusantara Five Satellite, an important symbol for our country in maintaining our own national independence," said PT Pasifik Satelit Nusantara (PSN) President Director Adi Rahman Adiwoso at the inauguration event in South Jakarta, Monday, as reported by Antara.

"This is proof that our neighboring countries prioritize connectivity independence in the midst of the current global political dynamics," said Adi.

With a capacity of 160 Gbps, the utilization of the Nusantara Five Satellite will be prioritized for the need to equalize internet access in Indonesia.

This satellite is targeted to be used by various sectors, ranging from government, private, to other institutions.

"We want to provide an option to the Indonesian usage interests that we can have a capacity that can be used and reliable," said Adi.

Of the total capacity, PSN allocates 20 Gbps each to be utilized by the Philippines and Malaysia.

SNL is a Very High Throughput Satellite (VHTS) technology satellite with a total capacity of more than 160 Gbps, using the Boeing 702MP platform, and has 101 Ka-band spot beams that cover all areas of Indonesia.

In supporting the operation of the N5 Satellite, PSN has prepared seven ground stations spread across various regions of Indonesia, namely Aceh, Bengkulu, Banjarmasin, Cikarang, Gresik, Kupang, and Tarakan.

With the operation of N5 Satellite, Indonesia will have a capacity of more than 400 Gbps which is the largest in Asia Pacific.
