JAKARTA - The Indonesian government has officially updated the Indonesian Business Field Crude Classification (KBLI) as a response to the rapid growth of the digital economy and the emergence of various new business models.

The updates announced on Thursday, April 28, cover a number of important sectors such as artificial intelligence (AI), crypto assets, and climate change-related technologies.

One of the important points in this update is the inclusion of the category "Digital Financial Asset Disruption" with the code KBLI 66123.

This classification includes activities that facilitate the trading of digital financial assets, including cryptocurrencies, in which business actors can carry out transactions on exchanges on behalf of customers or other parties.

Responding to this policy, Tokocrypto CEO, Calvin Kizana, assessed that this update provides legal and operational clarity for actors in the crypto asset industry in Indonesia.

"This update of the KBLI is a strong signal that the government is getting more serious in accommodating the development of the crypto asset industry. With a clearer classification, business actors have certainty in running their business while opening up wider growth space for innovation in this sector," said Calvin.

He also added that the official recognition of the state through the KBLI will make it easier for various parties, both companies and crypto-based projects, to develop their business in Indonesia.

"The clarity of regulations like this not only increases the confidence of industry players, but also encourages the entry of new investments and accelerates the wider adoption of blockchain technology," he continued.

With this update, the government is expected to create a business ecosystem that is more adaptive to technological developments.
