Google has again improved the artificial intelligence experience on Android by releasing a new design for Gemini. This update presents an interface that is more concise, intuitive, and does not interfere with user activity.
This latest update is starting to appear in the beta version of the Google app (v17.3), marking Google's continued move to integrate AI more naturally into everyday use.
The most noticeable change is seen in the Gemini overlay. The old design is now replaced with a slimmer "pill" shape, with a focus on the "Ask Gemini" column. The text size is enlarged to be clearer, while the microphone icon appears more minimalist with an outline style.
But the most significant upgrade is on the function side. The "plus" button now opens a new panel that combines the attachment and tools features in one place. Users can directly access the photo gallery, camera, files, to Google Drive through a large icon carousel.
Below it, AI-based features such as image creation, in-depth research, and guided learning are arranged in a more tidy list - making the workflow feel faster without having to go back and forth through menus.
Meanwhile, the Gemini Live feature has also undergone a major transformation. If previously it filled the screen, now it appears in a more flexible floating window.
This new interface places the sound wave visualization in the center, with important controls such as screen sharing and the keyboard around it. When users open other applications, the Gemini Live display automatically shrinks into a small circle - it remains active without interfering with the main screen.
Although still limited to the beta channel, users can already try this new look by activating the trial version of the Google app. There is no certainty when this update will be released widely to the stable version.
