JAKARTA - US President Donald Trump has officially appointed world technology giants, including Meta Platforms CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, to the Presidential Advisory Council for Science and Technology or PCAST.
This move marks a closer relationship between the White House and the technology industry, especially amid a global race in the development of artificial intelligence (AI).
The council will be co-chaired by David Sacks and Michael Kratsios, and will include a number of major figures from the world of technology and innovation.

Other names to join include Oracle CEO Safra Catz, Coinbase co-founder Fred Ehrsam, and technology investor Marc Andreessen.
This council can have up to 24 members, with the addition of names expected to be announced in the near future.
According to the White House, PCAST will focus on the opportunities and challenges of new technologies, including how they impact the American workforce as well as ensuring that all communities can adapt in an era dubbed the "Golden Age of Innovation".
The formation of this council also follows a long history, referring to the Science Advisory Board established in the era of President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1933.
The move comes just days after the US government released a national policy framework for AI, which encourages existing federal agency-based regulatory standards, rather than forming new regulators.
With the entry of technology giants into the presidential advisory circle, the direction of US AI policy going forward is expected to be increasingly influenced by direct industry players.
