JAKARTA - Xiaomi is starting to shift its focus to the global market after releasing the stable version of HyperOS 3.1 in China. Now, the official global beta rollout has begun - although it is still limited to a handful of the latest flagship devices.

This initial step is carried out through the Mi Pilot program, which is usually used by Xiaomi to test the system before a wide release. This means that global users can already "try first" new features, but with consequences: bugs are still part of the package.

In the initial stage, only two devices are on the list. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra for the EEA region and the global version of the Xiaomi 17 are pioneers in this trial. Although the list is still short, Xiaomi is expected to expand the beta distribution in the next few weeks.

Unlike the previous version, HyperOS 3.1 is not available for Android 15. This system will only be available on devices that are already running Android 16, which means only the latest devices will get this update in the near future.

For users who want to try early, Xiaomi opens registration through the Mi Community application. The process is quite simple, starting from changing the region to "Global", choosing the available beta program, to filling out a questionnaire for selection.

However, it should be noted that the beta version is not for everyone. This system is still in the development stage, so potential bugs, unstable performance, and features that are not final are very likely to occur. Xiaomi itself recommends that the installation be done on a second device, not the main phone.

If you pass the selection, users can immediately check for updates through the device settings menu. The approval process usually takes up to seven days.
