JAKARTA - Rumors about Apple's first folding phone are heating up again after new design images of a device called the iPhone Fold were circulating on the internet. The leak comes from a well-known technology leaker, Sonny Dickson, who shared the CAD image of the device on the X platform.
The image is believed to come from the casing-making industry, a source that is often an early indication of the device's design before it is officially launched.
In the circulating image, the iPhone Fold is seen having a design that can be folded like a book. When fully opened, the display is said to resemble a small tablet, even resembling the iPad mini device.
The shared CAD render shows two views of the device, namely the closed and open positions. On the front, a selfie camera is visible with a small hole design in the middle of the screen. When the device is opened, there is an additional camera in the upper left corner of the inner screen.
On the back of the device, a horizontal bar-shaped camera module is visible which contains two main cameras and a separate flash.
Interestingly, the image also shows a change in the button layout. The volume button seems to be moved to the left side of the device, unlike the general iPhone design.
However, there is no additional information regarding the dimensions of the device, screen size, or other technical specifications. Dickson also did not provide further comments regarding the leak.
The CAD image is displayed in two different colors. However, this color is likely only an early illustration and does not necessarily reflect the color of the final product. In fact, some previous rumors mention that the camera module of this device will use a full black color, not following the body color.
Apart from the lack of technical details, this design is consistent with previous rumors that say the camera array will be positioned horizontally.
