JAKARTA - Bluesky CEO, Jay Graber, announced that he would step down from his position as CEO and move to a new position as Chief Innovation Officer at the company.
In his official announcement, Graber said the decision was made after several years leading the development of Bluesky since its inception. He wants to focus on innovation and the development of new technologies in the company.
"As Bluesky evolves, the company needs experienced operators who are focused on scale and execution, while I return to what I do best: building new things," Graber said.
As part of this transition, Toni Schneider, former CEO of Automattic and partner at True Ventures, will join Bluesky as interim CEO, while the board of directors is conducting a search for a permanent chief executive.
"Toni strongly believes in the Bluesky mission, and has been an advisor to the company and to me personally for over a year," said Graber.
In addition to the former CEO of Automattic and partner at True Ventures, Toni has also been an advisor to Bluesky for more than a year. Automattic itself is the company behind the popular blog platform WordPress.com and is known for actively supporting the open software ecosystem.
Graber believes Toni has experience in building mission-based companies and understands Bluesky's vision to create a more open and user-oriented internet.
"I am confident that he is the right person to lead us into this next chapter," he said.
In the future, Graber will focus on exploring innovation in the field of decentralized social media as well as further developing the technology ecosystem that supports Bluesky.
