Crypto Conversations Are Common in 2025, Transaction Value Actually Decreases

JAKARTA - Although the Dataxet Sonar research found that the volume of crypto conversations on social media increased by around 29.8 percent in 2025 compared to 2024, the nominal crypto trade actually decreased.

Total engagement of crypto conversations reached 217.7 million, while blockchain-related conversations recorded 3.2 million engagements and Web3 at 1.5 million engagements.

But on the other hand, the value of cryptocurrency asset transactions in 2025 was recorded at Rp482.23 trillion, down 25.9 percent compared to 2024 which reached Rp650.61 trillion. This decline occurred even though the number of national cryptocurrency investors was recorded at 20.19 million.

This condition indicates a gap between public interest and transaction activity. One of the factors that are considered to contribute is the transaction cost which is not yet fully efficient, so it has the potential to encourage some market participants to move their trading activities to foreign platforms.

In response to the findings, CFX as a cryptocurrency asset futures exchange plans to provide cost relief for its members, namely Digital Financial Asset Traders (PAKD), by reducing the exchange transaction fee from 0.04 percent to 0.02 percent starting March 1, 2026.

TokoCrypto CEO, Calvin Kizana, assessed the move to reduce transaction costs as an important strategy to maintain the competitiveness of the domestic market while reducing the risk of capital outflow.

"This has the potential to cause capital outflow and reduce liquidity in the domestic market," Calvin said in a statement quoted on Thursday, February 12.

According to him, the policy of reducing costs from the exchange can provide space for PAKD members to present more efficient costs for end users.

"The reduction in fees by CFX is a positive signal. With lower transaction costs at the exchange level, PAKD has more room to increase efficiency, strengthen liquidity, and encourage transactions to continue in Indonesia," he said.
